Expedition preparations are well underway.
It's getting very difficult to concentrate on work and other non-holiday related tasks knowing that sun, sand and Mai Tai's await!

- We have set out to find (and drink!) the ultimate Mai Tai of Kauai (UMToK). Legends hint at the existence of a paradisical libation - a nectar of the Hawaiian Gods (or at least the Menehune) - so potent and delicious it renders the imbiber completely euphoric! We have 12 days to track down this elusive elixer; a tough job but we figured since someone's gotta do it, it might as well be us! Mark has enjoyed many a Mai Tai during previous trips to the Hawaiian Islands. Unfortunately, he can't seem to remember where the best one was... Scoring criteria: 1. Presentation (paper drink umbrella, layering, fruit garnish) 2. Flavour (not too rummy, fruity, or watery) 3. Location ambiance (authenticity of Hawaiian décor/music, ocean view, seats that don't stick to sunburnt butts) 4. Psychomotor Effects (numbing of lips, slurring of speech, inability to form coherent sentences or document drink review) 5. Server Enthusiasm 6. Cost 7. Psychomotor Effects (see 4, above) If you have any clues to the location of the UMToK (and can remember them) and/or if you wish to cheer us on, we'd love to hear from you! Mahalo, Mark & Linette
Great news that you're doing a blog of your trip. I suspect you'll have good fun with it and I can't wait to hear about your search for the perfect Mai Tai. Watch out for those psychomotor effects!
